Martial arts have always fascinated me for as long as I can remember. So just like the Karate Kid, I began looking for the martial art that suits me best since my early years.

I have been inspired by Bruce Lee quotes and philosophy of "practicality, flexibility, speed, and efficiency" in self-defence.

I am still fascinated by classic TV series like ‘Kung Fu’ starring the late David Carradine.

The vintage ‘Karate Kid’ movie series with Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi definitely hooked me!

In my quest, I practiced Karate Shotokan, Karate Shotokai and Aikido before settling for an Indonesian form of Shaolin Kung Fu which not only teaches self-defence but also enhances the spiritual and mental dimensions of the adept.

By training diligently -week in week out, year in year out- I finally took the black belt exam before the grandmaster himself in Indonesia.

During my first visit, I had to learn to channel my central or inner power which is also known as ‘Chi’ or ‘Ki’ in martial arts.

I also learnt a combination of breathing exercises, physical postures, and meditation that are found in advanced yoga training. This fact led me to study independently meditation and Hatha Yoga, later on.

Such a harness allowed me to sit by the edge of a fuming volcano (it is called ‘Bromo’ and is not far from the Indonesian city of Surabaya) and make my weight feel so heavy that the wind could not move me.

Also part of my black belt exam was breaking bricks on my stomach and with the knife edge of my feet.

This inner power is incidentally used by some performers to pull trucks, cars and even planes across amazing distances with just their teeth, ears!!

The human being is full of amazing psychic and mental powers (including self-healing) if only we are trained how to use them safely and effectively!

To become an instructor able to teach others, I went back to Indonesia -for a second time- for more training at the physical and mental level.

So, as you visit me at the Eden Healing Centre, one fact is certain: you will be treated by a healer who has tested powers of concentration and healing.

I used to smash bricks not by applying physical power but by using the mental and spiritual powers that each one of us has since birth.

I was fortunate to learn how to awaken my inner powers to great ‘smashing’ effects during my martial arts practice.

So shall you experience the awakening of your own healing powers, when visiting the Eden Healing Centre, in Vancouver BC!

As a Post-Scriptum, it would be interesting to know if the American President, Barak Obama, has had the time to visit the natural and raw beauty of Bromo, as he spent part of his childhood in Indonesia. Bromo is definitely worth a visit!
